As a PNW photographer there is nothing that I love more than an Oregon Coast Elopement. Honestly, I consider myself a bit of a professional when it comes to locations in the area. I can’t wait to share these beautiful elopement locations on the Oregon Coast with you!
In this blog, we will cover:
It is no secret that the Oregon Coast is INCREDIBLE. In fact, I don’t think that few places beat it… ESPECIALLY FOR YOUR ELOPEMENT.
From the Northern Oregon Coast to the Southern Oregon Coast, there is truly something for everyone.
Located just under an hour and a half (83 miles) from Portland, Hug Point is such a gem! If you want to elope among lush forests, sea caves, a waterfall, and a sandy beach, this location is the perfect spot for you!
Cannon Beach is such a classic + timeless location to elope. This beach does get pretty crowded, so I would recommend eloping at sunrise here if you want a completely private elopement experience. With unbelievable views of Haystack rock, this is such a sweet place to read your vows!
This location is one of my favorite places I’ve ever been. The views here are absolutely unreal, and it looks like you’ve been transported to Iceland. There is a hike to get to God’s Thumb, so be prepared with water, hiking shoes, and snacks!
This towering waterfall tucked away in the Columbia River Gorge is such a beautiful + grounding place to say your vows. With water cascading down a cliff overgrown with greenery, it is the perfect place to elope. It is just a quick drive from Portland (about 40 minutes). There is a short walk down to the base of the waterfall, as well as other trails to hike in the area if you’re looking for a more adventurous elopement.
Located just under an hour and a half (78 miles) from Portland in Seaside, Ecola State Park has gorgeous views stretched across the Oregon coastline. This state park has a variety of things to see, including views of the Pacific Ocean and its waves crashing on the beach, lush forests, views of the sea stacks, and beautiful native wildflowers.
This state park in Arch Cape features miles of beautiful rainforests + cliffside views. There are multiple hiking trails that you can take for gorgeous views of the Oregon Coast. For my adventure inclined couples, the Elk Flats Trail would be a lovely place to elope! Short Sand Beach is another option at Oswald State Park, with an easy hike to beach access. Make sure to go to the beach at low tide!
“The Woodlands House sits on five acres of an old growth private forest. The home itself is a beautiful 4 bedroom home with two outdoor decks surrounded by towering pine trees. It’s the perfect place to get out of the city and disconnect in nature, or to use as your base for all the PNW adventures. It’s a quick 30 min drive to Mount Hood or the entrance to the Colombia Gorge, and only 45 min from PDX Airport.”
“This authentic retreat in the heart of Arch Cape is ideal for your next getaway to the Oregon Coast. Experience a cozy studio with natural light and contemporary accents to make you feel right at home without the bustle of Oregon’s most popular beach towns.”
“Quiet, stylish, and perfect for a secluded getaway on the Oregon Coast, this oasis will be just the place to call home on your next vacation to Cape Meares a few miles beyond Tillamook. Located within walking distance of the Pacific Ocean, this idyllic home and location are impeccably designed to provide you every comfort and convenience during your next vacation. Ideal for romantic getaways, families, retreats, or a longer extended stay for remote work/schooling away from home.”
“Picturesque mid-century cabin…with your own private riverfront! Boasting a magical view of huge forest trees and 300 feet of river frontage – enjoy a tastefully curated interior with modern appliances & fast wifi.”
This is one of my favorite places in Oregon! As of 2022, the hike to the natural bridge at Samuel H. Boardman Scenic Corridor has been closed, but all of the photos below were taken at Secret Beach nearby. There are amazing views of the cliffside, with beach access and a waterfall. This location requires a short + steep hike, so be prepared with proper footwear. Secret Beach is located about 5.5 hours south of Portland.
Harris Beach is a lovely beach featuring tide pools and beautiful vegetation. This beach does get pretty crowded as well, so I would recommend eloping at sunrise here if you want a completely private elopement experience.
This is a redwood forest with tons of greenery + ferns in California located about 30 minutes from Brookings, Oregon. If you dream of getting married among giant, towering redwood trees, this state park would be an amazing option for you. Visiting the redwoods was such an unforgettable experience, and I just know you would love it too!
Southern Oregon Coast Airbnbs
“Heartland Treehouse is perched between two massive fir trees overlooking a steep river canyon. Sounds of a nearby waterfall will soothe you to bed at night and gently wake you in the morning. My home is a short walk or drive away and I will be happy to help guide your adventure on Oregon’s South Coast. Your treehouse home is secluded, comfortable, and perfect for getting blissed out and recharged.”
“Enjoy a truly rare couples’ experience – 270 degree views of nothing but ocean and the Oregon and California coast in a luxurious, 5-star resort-like cottage at the end of a private peninsula. Watch pelicans skim the wave-tops by day, and drift away to the sounds of the crashing waves below at night.”
“Enjoy ultimate comfort at the Harris Beach Bungalow, a modern three-bedroom, two-bathroom home. Design-forward and less than a mile from Harris Beach, this is the perfect place for families and friends to gather, adventure and make memories. Kid-friendly and close to many beaches, sights and shops, this is the perfect coastal getaway!”
The state of Oregon only requires a special use permit if your event has 50+ people attending.
If you’re only inviting a few close friends + family to your elopement or intimate wedding, you won’t need to obtain a special use permit.
However, if you are looking to invite more than 50 guests, here is more information.
Luckily, the state is full of incredible vendors for your Oregon Coast Elopement. Here are some of my favorite vendors that I think you’d love for your elopement.
